I take guacamole very seriously. I would never throw around the title “best ever” loosely so please don’t look at the name of this recipe and think that I’m exaggerating. This guacamole really is the best ever. I mean it.
This recipe has been in development since I was in high school. I didn’t start liking avocados until about this time (I know, sacrilege!) so I was a little late to jump on the train. Once I realized what I had been missing out on I started making guac on a weekly basis. Eventually I discovered the perfect combination of ingredients.
Mashed to the perfect consistency, avocados are mixed with diced onions, tomatoes, jalapeño, and everything is coated in fresh lime juice. Sprinkle in a little chili powder, salt, and pepper and BOOM! You have the best, most flavorful guac you could ever imagine.
Being from California I consider myself a bit of a produce snob. The best fruits and vegetables grow right here and I think it’s important to take advantage of that fact every season. That is exactly why this guacamole isn’t just some mashed avocado, garlic powder, salt, and chopped cilantro. Instead, it is loaded with plenty of fresh flavors and textures setting it apart from other recipes of its kind.
Serve this guacamole with tortilla chips, scoop heaps of it onto tacos, burritos, and chili or simply dig in with a spoon. I add it to just about everything savory when I have a bowl of it in the house. When eating the best dip known to man there is absolutely no way you can go wrong.
Best Ever Guacamole
While there are many good guacamole recipes out there, this one is the best you will ever make. Period.
- Prep Time: 10 minutes
- Total Time: 10 minutes
- Yield: 4 servings 1x
- Category: sides, snacks
- Cuisine: vegan, gluten-free
Ingredients
3 avocados
juice of 1 lime
1/2 c onion, diced
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 jalapeño, minced
1 roma tomato, diced
1/4 tsp chili powder
3/4 tsp sea salt
1/8 tsp black pepper
Instructions
1. In a large bowl, mash avocados until desired guacamole consistency is reached. I like a smooth guacamole with a few chunks of avocado remaining. Add lime juice to mashed avocados and mix thoroughly to prevent browning.
2. Add onion, garlic, jalapeño, tomato, chili powder, sea salt, and pepper to the bowl and stir until ingredients are evenly distributed. Cover with plastic wrap, taking care to press wrap right up against the guacamole to prevent air from leaking inside. Let chill in the refrigerator for about an hour before serving to allow flavors to meld. Guacamole is best when served the day of preparation but can keep for a day or two properly sealed with wrap in the refrigerator.
