Summer has finally arrived! I know for many of you the weather is only now just starting to turn so I wanted to hold out on releasing this recipe for homemade strawberry lemonade until now. You see, here on the Central Coast it has been sunny and 75 F since April but I didn’t want to rub it in for any of you still navigating the winter blues.
Anyways, here it is! Strawberry season is upon us and California has the best the world has to offer. Giant, sweet berries are ripe for the picking and flying off stand shelves like hot cakes!
Prepare for a summer full of strawberry recipes my friends. I don’t see myself slowing down my consumption of these little pieces of heaven anytime soon. While smoothies, cakes, and cobblers are sure to come, let’s get started with this incredible lemonade!
I’m going to be completely honest with you guys. Prior to testing and creating this recipe, I had never before made homemade lemonade (without concentrate that is). Eek! I know right?! You’d think I would have had this experience before the age of 23 but what can I say? Laziness prevailed.
Squeezing lemons can be a daunting task but let me tell you, the result is so rewarding. Freshly squeezed lemon juice in your lemonade is an absolute game changer! Most concentrates and mixes out there contain way too much sugar, taking away from the sour tartness that is supposed to exist in every glass. Trust me, it is worth the added labor.
So drink up my friends! Enjoy your summer and remember to take time for yourself! Get out in nature, swim, read outside, and take part in any stereotypical summer activity your heart desires. You are worth it.
