I have a confession to make: I don’t always eat as well as I should. I am comfortable admitting this to you because I think we are all, as humans, in the same boat. We all have our favorite naughty foods that we lie awake at night thinking about (ice cream, ice cream, and more ice cream) even though we know they aren’t good for us.
That said, I believe if we eat healthy 90% of the time, there is no reason to feel guilty about an indulgent meal and a decadent dessert once a week. In fact, I think this kind of strategy allows for us to maintain some semblance of sanity.
However, we all fall off the wagon sometimes. One high-calorie meal or one big piece of chocolate cake can be just the beginning of a very long, slippery slope. While this might be acceptable around the holidays, I like to push myself into believing that there is no place for this behavior during the summer. That is the exact sentiment that inspired this very salad.
Salad, as we all know, is the quintessential diet food. Full of color, veggies, and fruits, these guys can pull us out of even the deepest of food comas. However, many restaurant salads sneak in plenty of fat, salt, and sugar with high calorie dressings and add-ins. You can rest assured knowing this lovely Raw Detox Salad is free from these ailments.
Loaded with fresh veggies and topped simply with lemon juice and freshly cracked pepper, this salad is wonderfully light and refreshing. No need to worry about hidden calories or flavors. This salad is transparent by nature and will aid you in finding your way back to healthy eating. Happy Summer!
